FNB UP-Tuks crossed the tryline 11 times as they smashed FNB Madibaz 82-21 in their final match of the 2018 Varsity Cup at the Tuks Rugby Stadium on Monday evening.
Flyhalf Christo Hamman opened the home team's account with a penalty goal and converted wing Cameron Hufke's intercept try moments later.
FNB UP-Tuks scored three more tries in the first half as wing Xolisa Guma scored a seven-point try which was followed by flank Stephan Smith who touched down twice before the half-time break.
FNB Madibaz shifted a gear as the first half wrapped up as replacement loose forward Siyamthanda Jwacu scored a seven-point try and hooker Jean-Pierre Jamieson crossed the whitewash as the men from Port Elizabeth recovered from FNB UP-Tuks’ early onslaught.
Flyhalf Henrique Olivier converted Jwacu's efforts as the teams headed to the sheds with FNB UP-Tuks holding a commanding 33-14 lead.
FNB Madibaz started the second half in the same way they finished the first, as wing Athenkosi Mayinje scored a converted try in the 48th minute.
It was all FNB UP-Tuks after that as they struck time and time again. Guma scored a further two tries to bag his hat-trick while outside centre Marnus Potgieter scored a brace.
Hamman added a try to a fine all-round performance, with replacement prop Mashoa Mukhari finishing the men from Pretoria's successful evening on the pitch.
