Posted on January 09, 2017

Hours of hard work and discipline by the players of Assupol TuksCricket paid off as four were selected for the 2017 CSA National Academy men’s squad.

Head coach, Kruger van Wyk, is extremely proud of the players that were selected for the squad. ‘All these players have excelled at university, club and provincial cricket while maintaining their academics to pass their courses. For us, academics is a player’s first priority, we will structure training around their classes to ensure that they get to class and pass their subjects.
‘We are very proud of these players and we wish them all the best for the time that they are with the National Academy Squad.’

Lungisani Ngidi started at Assupol TuksCricket at the beginning of 2015 after matriculating at Hilton College and deciding to study a BA in Social Science at the University of Pretoria. He immediately started playing for Assupol Tuks 1 in University and NCU competitions.

He was also selected for the SA USSA side for their 2016 tournaments against SA and the Sri Lankan Emerging Sides. At the start of the 2016/2017 season, Ngidi made his first class franchise debut for the Multiply Titans in the Sunfoil four-day series.

After joining Tuks, the old Afrikaans Hoër Seuns School player quickly worked himself back into the Northerns Senior Provincial Side where he has been involved since. He also captains the side. He was selected for the SA USSA team after the 2016 Varsity Cricket Week.
