Assupol TuksCricket NCU T20 Competition Winners

Assupol TuksCricket won the NCU T20 Club Competition for the 4th year running after beating Pretoria High School Old Boys (PHSOB) in the competition’s final on Sunday 21 February 2016.

Tuks moved through to the competition’s quarterfinals after beating Harlequins, CBCOB and Pretoria to end at the top of the log.

In the quarterfinal, Tuks played against TUT and beat them by 40 runs securing a spot in the semi-final against Irene Villagers.

Tuks bowled Irene out for 37 in 12.4 overs, Ruben Claassen (4-0-6-5) and Roger Arendse (4-2-2-2) taking the most wickets for Tuks. In reply, Tuks managed to reach their target in 5.4 overs winning the match by 9 wickets, Aiden Markram (23*), Murray Coetzee (1) and Evan Jones (16*) scoring the runs for Tuks.

The final was played straight after the semi-final where Tuks played against PHSOB. Tuks won the toss and elected to bat first. The Tuks batsmen executed their task well and scored 173/5 in their 20 overs. Evan Jones (71), Heinrich Klaasen (28) and Thomas Kaber (25) were the top scorers for TuksCricket. In the second innings the Tuks bowlers managed to defend the total and managed to bowl PHSOB out for 110 in the final over. Sean Nowak (4-0-26-2), Thomas Kaber (4-0-19-2) and Willie Ludick (2.1-0-16-2) each took two wickets for Tuks.

This is the first NCU title for TuksCricket this season; Assupol Tuks 1 is currently top of the log in the Premier League and have gone through to the NCU Knock Out Competition semi-finals.
