Pollock played 12 years of international cricket for South Africa (303 ODIs, 108 Tests and 12 T20s) and captained the side from 2000 – 2003. When he retired; Pollock was the number 1 all-rounder in the world, the number 1 ODI bowler in the world and the number 8 test bowler in the world taking more than 400 career wickets in test matches only. Pollock played many matches in India during his cricket career including matches in the IPL where he played for the Mumbai Indians. With this experience he had great advice to give on how the approach the conditions in India and how to prepare for that tournament.

The players enjoyed this experience immensely and David Mogotlane and Murray Coetzee had the following to say:

Mogotlane, “I really enjoyed the opportunity to spend some time with Shaun Pollock over the two days that he was with us. It was a great privilege to gain some insight into the possible conditions one can expect to be faced with in India. He was very willing to share information regarding tactics and variations that spin bowlers in the teams he has been involved with have used successfully and I tried to take in as much as possible. The knowledge and expertise of one of the greatest all-rounders of all time has definitely added a large amount of value to our squad in preparation for the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Finals in India.”

Coetzee, “I really enjoyed the time that I spent with Shaun Pollock at training as it was great to have someone with a fresh perspective working with us, especially someone with the wealth of experience that he has. It was awesome opportunity to learn from someone who’s had so much experience of the conditions in India in which we will have to perform.”
