Posted on September 21, 2015

Having recovered from an incredible 2014/2015 season, TuksCricket players worked hard in the pre-season to get themselves ready for all the cricket they’ll be playing in the next six months. Assupol TuksCricket will be defending the NCU Premier League, the NCU T20 Competition, the NCU Knock Out, USSA A Cricket Week, the Varsity Cricket Competition and the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Finals.

The preseason included many different components of strength & conditioning, fitness, cricket specific training and warm-up matches. The warm-up matches included inter-squad matches and two 50 over matches against the Cobras.

Aldin Smith has been appointed as Tuks 1 Coach for all the NCU Competitions and Onke Mtsiba was appointed as Coach for Tuks 2. Pierre de Bruyn will continue to fulfill his role as Technical Director for all teams and programmes at Assupol TuksCricket but will remain Head Coach for Tuks 1 for the USSA and Varsity Cricket weeks as well as for national and international tournaments.

Talking about the season ahead, Assupol TuksCricket Head Coach, Pierre de Bruyn, said, “There will be many challenges this season with the Student World Cup taking place in October, USSA in December and Varsity Cricket at the end of January 2016. The squad is well prepared and we are very aware of raising the bar and performances this season. It is another season where we will make our sponsors and the University of Pretoria proud.”
