Assupol TuksCricket and TuksSport Celebrate Nelson Mandela International Day

Assupol TuksCricket joined hands with TuksRugby,TuksRugbyLeague and TuksSport to make a difference to the children of Bramley Children’s Home in celebration of Nelson Mandela International Day. Staff and players of TuksCricket, TuksRugby and TuksSport gave more than their 67 minutes to interact with the children and donate sporting equipment to the home. Assupol TuksCricket head coach, Pierre de Bruyn, emphasized that it is important for the children to understand that you need to stay active through sport to stay healthy while staying focused on your academics. The children were also reminded that it is important to strive towards a tertiary education when they finish Matric. Assupol TuksCricket have been involved with Bramley Children’s Home for a few years already and this was a great opportunity to collaborate with other TuksSport Clubs to give back to the community again.

Nelson Mandela understood the power of sport and interaction through sport as he once said, “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair. It is more powerful than government in breaking down racial barriers.”
