TuksNetball had an extremely strong USSA week losing only one match during the tournament as they looked to defend their 2014 title. In their first match against UJ the Tuks women walked away with a 75 – 35, 40 point margin win followed by a 69 – 46 defeat over Maties. In their third match the Tuks women lost to Kovsies by only 5 points, 40 – 45, having in unusual form missed 19 shots on goal. This would be the only match that they would lose. The final pool stage match was against NMMU and the classy Tuks outfit walked away as 61 – 26 victors.

Tuks met Maties again in the semi-final, and again the team from Stellenbosch bowed out to Coach Jenny van Dyk’s well-groomed outfit, who took 61 points to Maties’ 33.

The TuksNetball women encountered Kovsies in the final. The back and forth tussle for the title of top team has seen its fair share of the limelight between these two teams over the last few years. In a back and forth match, our women managed to put together some great pieces of play and take the lead. TuksNetball finished on a strong note with a 48 – 39 victory in a highly contested final to claim the title of 2015 USSA Netball Champions.

" We are very proud of each Tukkie that participated, they played with a lot of character, deserved the title and are true champions. Tuks of Niks!," said Captain, Melissa Myburgh when asked how she felt about her team.

"We always knew that it would take a true team effort to play according to the standard we decided upon before the start of the tournament. As defending champs we focused on our "higher than usual" goals that we set out for ourselves and played as a unit throughout the week. The team was exceptional and I am very proud of each and every player," said Coach Jenny van Dyk.
