The men's football team picked up their first win of the tournament on Sunday, fighting back in the group stages on day three of the World Student Games in Gwangju, South Korea. The South Africans, who had lost to France in their opening match three days earlier, secured a 3-1 victory over Ukraine in their second Group B fixture, with Jeremiah Nkwana scoring a second-half brace. All three goals were scored by University of Pretoria student-athletes.

Elsewhere, Franko Jonker, a TuksSwimming club member and student at Texas A&M, progressed to the evening session on the second day of competition in the pool. Jonker touched the wall in 1:09.03 in the women's 100m breaststroke semifinals, finishing 11th overall. Jonker unfortunately will not progress to the finals.

Shooter Martin Davis settled in a tie for 18th position after the first day of the men's trap qualification.
