Dr Marima’s Global Scholar in Training Award (GSITA)

Global Scholar in Training Award (GSITA) is a meritorious award offered by the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). GSITA is offered to early-career scientists who wish to participate in the AACR Annual Meeting from countries building cancer research capacities. In 2021, the 15 awardees represent 9 countries - Argentina, Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, and South Africa.

GSITAs are intended to enhance the education, training, and professional network of scientists from these countries engaged in basic, clinical, translational, or epidemiological cancer research. Dr. Rahaba Marima is the only South African 2021 AACR GSITA awardee.
