The South African Institute of Taxation (SAIT) hosted a student conference themed ‘Pioneering Tax Professionals of Tomorrow’ on 21 May 2024 at the Premier Hotel Midrand in Johannesburg. Fifteen honours students and two lecturers from the Department of Taxation in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at the University of Pretoria attended the conference.

 

At the conference, the SAIT CEO Professor Keith Engel delivered a presentation on tax career pathways, followed by a panel discussion on employer expectations in the field of tax. Students engaged with SAIT and industry partners present at the conference during a networking session. Our UP Tax honours students also emerged as first- and second-place winners in a tax quiz, with each winner receiving a prize from SAIT. The event concluded with a cocktail dinner, offering further networking opportunities for our Tax honours students with prospective employers.
