Tax honours farm trip

Posted on May 30, 2024

The BCom Honours (Taxation) students visited a private game farm on 12 April 2024. This trip culminated in the topic of taxation on farmers, which was covered with the students in class prior to the trip. During the excursion, the students were engaged in three activities: an integrated case study dealing with the farm they were visiting, a discussion session with a company from practice who assists in matching graduates with the correct employers, and a game drive on the farm.

For many of the students, this was the first time they had visited and were exposed to a real farm. The main aim of this trip was to help students to contextualise the theory they had been taught, but also to enjoy a fun-filled day out of the classroom. The students enjoyed the trip so much that they did not want to return to the city and even enquired whether they could spend a weekend on the farm.
