Prof Stigling, Head of the Department of Taxation, and Prof Engel identified a need for discussion between academic staff and the National Treasury. This series of lectures, attended by members of the National Treasury and lecturers from the University of Pretoria, Unisa, the University of Johannesburg and the North-West University, is seen as the ideal forum to discuss basic tax theory and the fundamental principles of tax.

More lectures are scheduled in the Leadership Centre, situated in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences Building at the Hatfield Campus of the University of Pretoria, for the Mondays of 18 June, 23 July, 20 August, 17 September and 15 October 2012 from 08:30 to 09:30.
