Celebrating Ability and Empowerment Through Inclusion
On May 15, a powerful and uplifting event was hosted by the Student Sport Committee in collaboration with VITA — the “Celebration of Ability and Empowerment through Inclusion.” As members of the Student Sport Committee, we are proud to reflect on this initiative as a meaningful stride toward inclusive and transformative student sport on campus.
This event was not just about competition — it was about recognizing ability in all its forms, creating safe and empowering spaces for students with disabilities, and showcasing that sport can, and should, be accessible to everyone.
Through adaptive sports such as Goalball, Wheelchair Racing, Sit-Down Volleyball, and Braille Chess, students from various residences and faculties came together in unity, compassion, and spirited competition. The turnout, enthusiasm, and positive feedback reaffirmed the importance of inclusive initiatives within the student sporting community.

This celebration is a testament to what is possible when we centre accessibility, equity, and empowerment in our programming. We look forward to building on this momentum and continuing to transform student sport into a space where every student can participate, compete, and belong.
Together, we are redefining what student sport looks like — one inclusive event at a time.
