Overview of Student Life
At this University, student life and leadership go hand in hand. Student life gives you the playground to explore life as a young adult in university, and student leadership is your chance to level up with richer real-world developmental experience.
The Student Governance Model at the University illustrates the comprehensive structures of student representation and leadership, reflecting the vibrant student life on campus. It encompasses various organised student life structures aimed at enhancing the student experience.
Leadership Programs: We offer a variety of leadership programs for different interests at different levels so you can shine and make a difference. Each program is designed to boost your skills, knowledge, and experience.
- Class Representative System: This is a great entry-level leadership program where students represent their peers, drive academic success and foster communication between students and their faculties.
- Sub-Houses and Societies: These special interest groups focus on all aspects of student life, from specific academic programs to social, political, and religious societies. These structures serve as an interesting and easier introduction to student life.
- Special Committees: Managed by the Student Development and Disability Unit, the special committees are student-led structures with specific mandates to enhance student development, relating to mentorship, entrepreneurship, academic excellence, and support for students with disabilities.
- Day Houses and Faculty Houses: These programs provide leadership opportunities within specific student communities, promoting engagement and a sense of advocacy and belonging. They offer a platform for students to lead and participate in various social, cultural, sports, and academic activities.
- Legislative Committees: Participate in the legislative processes affecting student life. These committees are focused on the legal processes that make the institution run.
- Key Committees These are focused student life committees that promote leadership and participation in sports, community engagement, and cultural events, providing platforms for all students to partake and positively impact campus life.
SRC: The Student Representative Council (SRC) is the highest student governance body at UP. The SRC’s role is to voice and advocate for students’ needs and wants while ensuring they are represented on all levels of the institution.
