Update on NSFAS allowances
The following payment arrangements have been made for NSFAS-funded students who qualify for living, accommodation, travel and book allowances:
· Book allowances will be paid directly to students via Fundi.
· To ensure other allowances are timeously paid, NSFAS-funded students must apply on the UP student portal, where they will find detailed application guidelines.
We encourage all NSFAS-funded students to visit the NSFAS website regularly to familiarise themselves with the NSFAS guidelines to ensure timeous payment of allowances.
NSFAS has announced that from 1 June 2023 all allowances will be paid directly into students’ NSFAS-approved bank accounts and that it intends to take over full control of the payment of allowances going forward.
