The SARChI Research Chair in Non-Parametric, Robust Statistical Inference and Statistical Process Control, which is situated within the Department of Statistics, hosted its 1st annual Workshop and Research day on Friday 11 August 2017.

Dr Schalk Human, the interim leader for the SARChI Chair, welcomed the attendees and stated that the objective of the day was to provide a platform for collaboration and research by exchanging and generating ideas in order to foster the extension of the knowledge and collaboration between research institutions.

The day covered five thematic areas namely, stochastic simulation methodologies, big data analysis, study design and statistical data analysis, spatial statistics and jump detection for non-linear jump diffusions.

Attendees included staff members, undergraduate and post-graduate students as well as industry partners and research collaborators from local and international universities.
