US Consulate Cape Town Vacancy

An office of the US Consulate in Cape Town is seeking qualified applicants with the following skills
  • 1 East African Analyst with Kiswahili
  • 1 East African Analyst with Somali
  • 1 Portuguese Linguist with Analytic Skills
  • 1 Person with skills in data-driven journalism and/or statistical analysis (background in social media research beneficial)
The successful candidate will prepare written and multimedia analytic reports on regional developments. 

Required qualifications include:

  • A university degree in Political Science, Media Studies, International Relations, or related fields essential
  • Relevant qualifications for the position in data-driven journalism/statistics; Capable of data/social media analysis and interpretation
  • Strong critical thinking, analytic, and writing skills
  • Knowledge of or experience with social media
  • High level of computer proficiency
  • Excellent communication in written and spoken English
  • Ability to work with multimedia and in a multimedia environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team
 

Qualified applicants must hold South African citizenship or permanent resident status.  These positions could require extended hours, including some weekends and holidays, and require multi-year development to reach full performance level.  Final year university students welcome to apply at developmental level.

Substantial training will be provided.  Occasional travel is possible.  Security and medical check required.
