Staff and postgraduate students from the University of Pretoria's Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology recently made their mark at the European Federation of Audiology Societies (EFAS) 2023 Congress. This high-profile event took place in Sibenik, Croatia, from May 3rd to 6th, 2023, and attracted an international audience of audiology professionals and esteemed experts.

The University of Pretoria delegation consisted of Professors De Wet Swanepoel and Faheema Mahomed-Asmail, three doctoral students - Bopane Mothemela, Megan Knoetze, and Caitlin Frisby, along with post-doctoral fellow Karina De Sousa. The team showcased eleven engaging oral presentations featuring cutting-edge research findings and innovative insights into the audiology field. This work was part of the Virtual Hearing Lab co-led by Prof Vinaya Manchaiah from the University of Colorado, School of Medicine, Dept of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

The EFAS 2023 Congress served as a valuable platform for our department, enabling in-depth discussions and networking opportunities with a diverse range of international audiology experts.
