The University of Pretoria Promotes Hearing Health on World Hearing Day

In honour of World Hearing Day 2023, the University of Pretoria Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, a World Health Organization collaboration centre, conducted a mass campaign to promote ear and hearing health. The campaign included presentations on safe listening and ear hygiene practices, free hearing screenings, and awareness-raising efforts via Tuks FM, Power FM, and Channel Afrika.

The department's primary objective was to inform the general public about the importance of ear and hearing health. The first campaign took place at Generaal Beyers Primary School and was attended by learners in grades 1-5. The second campaign was held on campus and targeted students.
