Three doctoral audiology students and a postdoctoral fellow from the University of Pretoria presented their research at the International Hearing Aid Conference (IHCON 2022) in Tahoe City, California.

The presented research explores community-based adult hearing care provided by community healthcare workers using mHealth technologies (Caitlin Frisby – PhD student), factors influencing hearing aid outcomes (Bopane Mothemela – PhD student), factors influencing hearing help-seeking and hearing aid uptake (Megan Knoetze – PhD student) and hearing aid experiences during and after fitting (Dr Ilze Oosthuizen – Postdoc). Two of the students received the prestigious Sig Soli Scholarship award.

The students and postdoc are part of the Virtual Hearing Lab co-led by Prof De Wet Swanepoel at the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology in partnership with Prof Vinay Manchaiah at the Anschutz Medical Centre, University of Colorado.
