2025 Call for Applications - NRF Postdoctoral Fellowships
The National Research Foundation (NRF) is pleased to announce the call for Postdoctoral Fellowship applications for 2025 in the following categories:
Applicant Internal Submission Deadline: 02 May 2024 to allow for screening, and validation by institutional Designated Authority prior to submission to the NRF.

UP Co-funded Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme: 2024 Call for Applications (Call Closed)
The University of Pretoria (UP) invites its academic researchers to apply for postdoctoral fellowships, which will support research in areas aligned with the faculty, institute, and university’s priorities.
UP Co-funded Postdoctoral Fellowships for recent doctoral graduates from UP or another university. Two (2) years, renewal subject to satisfactory progress ( Call Closed)

R125 000 per year
The supervisor must contribute at least R125 000 per year for two years

University of Pretoria Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme: 2024 Call for Applications ( Call Closed)
The University of Pretoria (UP) invites eligible candidates to apply for postdoctoral fellowships which will support research in areas aligned with the faculty, centre, institute, and UP’s priorities.
The categories include:
UP PhD Postdoctoral Fellowships for UP doctoral graduates who have fulfilled all the requirements for the PhD degree within one year at the time of application. One year fellowship with no possibility for renewal.
UP Postdoctoral Fellowships for recent doctoral graduates from UP or any other university. Two years, renewal subject to satisfactory progress.
Application Process
The applicant must find an academic supervisor or mentor based at UP and who is willing to host them as a postdoctoral fellow should the application be successful. It is the responsibility of the applicant to identify and liaise with suitable potential supervisors/hosts. UP website: https://www.up.ac.za
