The Department congratulates the New CODESRIA Head. 

The Department of Political Sciences warmly welcomes the appointment of Dr Godwin Murunga as the 7th Executive Secretary of the 44-year old premier pan-African body of human and social sciences, CODESRIA. 

 

This excellent appointment brings into the Council a passionate Pan-Africanist thinker, fully committed to the full liberation of Africa and the fulfillment of its promise as an independent and dynamic actor in the world. He has made his name as an ardent defender of excellence in scholarship, a public intellectual that speaks truth to power nationally and regionally. and to global power that continues to limit's Africa's dreams. We are proud of his mammoth achievement at University of Nairobi's esteemed Institute for Development Studies and at the world-renown African Leadership Institute. He brings with him the force of exemplary leadership on all fronts, which will help re-inspire new African thinkers and scholars. 

 

Given his visionary strengths, we can anticipate the injection of new energy and dynamism in the endeavor to achieve Africa's thought liberation. We wish Dr Murunga all the very best in his new responsibilities and we recommit ourselves to the agenda that CODESRIA exists for.
