Which residence is the one for you?
Between our Hatfield (and Hillcrest), Groenkloof, Prinshof, and Onderstepoort campuses, the University of Pretoria has 29 residences.
Living in a UP residence is a top choice for both new and returning students, offering an exciting and immersive campus experience. Applying early significantly increases your chances of securing a spot.
Follow these steps to apply for residence placement:
1 The same online application used for academic admission also serves as your residence placement application.
2 If you didn’t apply for residence when submitting your study application, you can still do so via the UP Student Portal.
3 Due to high demand, residence placement is not guaranteed.
4 First-time residence students must pay a reservation levy within the specified timeframe, as outlined in their placement letter.
5 Annual accommodation fees cover only the academic term and do not include recess periods or early move-in dates.
Apart from on-campus accommodation, the University of Pretoria proudly holds the distinction of being the largest residential university in South Africa.
The Department of Residence Affairs and Accommodation, known as TuksRes, offers an extensive residential community of more than 8 000 students.
