TuksHockey 1st teams face their biggest rivals in Northerns League

Posted on June 19, 2012

TuksHockey Men and Ladies face their toughest matches as they reach the final stage of their intense preparation for USSA 2012 Tournament being held at the University of Johannesburg in the first week of July.

Both the Men and Ladies sit at the top of their respective leagues but are closely followed by TUT Men and Pukke Ladies respectively and come up against these teams this weekend.

This week sees another weekend of double headers with the Men’s team playing Old Albanians Friday night at 19:30 at St Albans College and arch rivals TUT on Sunday at TUT at 09:30. A win from both these matches will clinch the League title for the Men’s team before the knock-out cup stage that will take place in the second part of the season in mid July.

The Ladies will play both their strongest opposition in Pukke, 2011 USSA Ladies Winners, and TUT who were 2011 Northerns League finalists. The players will be motivated to give their best performance with this being their last opportunity to clinch a spot in the final USSA team to be announced on Monday afternoon.

Friday Night Lights at TuksHockey Astro & Clubhouse will be kicked off by the much anticipated Tuks 2 vs Tuks 3 clash which sees an early 16:30 start. On both occasions these teams have ended level and with competition rife within the first three TuksHockey ladies squads this match will need to be settled between the four white lines.
