Prof Tivani Phosa Mashamba-Thompson Email address: [email protected] Tivani Mashamba-Thompson is a Molecular Biology Medical Scientist (registered by the Health Professions Council of South Africa) with a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical chemistry (summa cum laude) and PhD in Public Health. She completed a Global Clinical Research Program at Harvard Medical School and her postdoctoral fellowship under the Canadian HIV Clinical Trials Network. She is a Professor of Diagnostics and a Deputy Dean of Research and Postgraduate Studies for the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Pretoria. She is the founder and lead researcher for REASSURED-d@UP. She is a co-Director for University of Pretoria MartiTB Diagnostics PTY(LTD), University of Pretoria. She serves as a non-executive board member of the National Health Laboratory Services (NHLS) as a Deputy Chairperson of the NHLS Research and Innovation Committee. A member of the Department of Health Office of Health Standards Compliance Technical Task team and a diagnostic’s expert advisor for Abbott International.

Dr Kuhlula Maluleke
Email address:[email protected] Kuhlula Maluleke is an accomplished epidemiologist and public health researcher, currently serving as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Health Systems and Public Health at the University of Pretoria. Her primary research focus revolves around improving the accessibility of diagnostics by addressing challenges within the supply chain management framework. In her postdoctoral research, Dr. Maluleke delves into the intricate regulatory systems that govern supply chain management, with a specific emphasis on the distinctions between pharmaceuticals and diagnostics at primary healthcare levels. Her work aims to contribute valuable insights to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of diagnostic accessibility within healthcare systems. Beyond her research commitments, Dr. Maluleke actively engages in biostatistics within the Faculty of Health Sciences Research Support Hub. As a Biostatistician Intern, she applies her expertise to various tasks, including screening statistical requests from the School of Health Care Sciences, performing sample size calculations, and conducting descriptive and inferential data analysis. Dr Evans Mathebula Email address: [email protected] Evans Mathebula is the Medical and Scientific Affairs Manager for Africa at Abbott Rapid Diagnostics responsible for providing scientific advisory both within the organisation and externally. Evans holds a Ph.D. in Human Genetics and Pharmacogenomics from the University of Witwatersrand, and an MSc in Veterinary Sciences which he graduated from the University of Pretoria with distinction. He currently works within a collaboration of a network of disease area experts, key opinion leaders, Ministries of Health, Non-Government Organisations, global funders and implementing organisations across the African continent to adopt rapid diagnostic tests. He is also an extraordinary lecturer in the School of Health System and Public Health at University of Pretoria. In the lecturer capacity, he supervises postgraduates students and coordinates a journal club for the REASSURED-d@UP.

Dr Tafadzwa Dzinamarira Email address: [email protected] Tafadzwa Dzinamarira, MSc, MPH, PhD, is ICAP’s interim country director in Zimbabwe. Tafadzwa holds a Master of Science in HIV/AIDS Management, a Master of Public Health (Disease Prevention and Control), and a PhD in Public Health. He is a public health expert and serves as an extraordinary lecturer at the School of Health Systems and Public Health. In this capacity, he contributes in facilitating research capacity building webinars for the Faculty and supervises postgraduate students under REASSURED-d@UP. Dr. Dzinamarira has expertise in providing technical leadership in the design, development, planning, and implementation of national household-based biomarker surveys.

Dr Boitumelo Moetlhoa
Email address: [email protected] Boitumelo Moetlhoa is an extraordinary lecturer. She has a Masters in Microbiology from Rhodes University and a PhD in Pharmaceutics from the North-West University. Boitumelo worked as a Research Associate at Onderstepoort Biological Products as part of the viral vaccine development and optimization team. Her postdoc research is focused on implementation of REASSURED diagnostics in resource-limited settings. She has recently completed a study aimed at barriers and enablers for implementation of 4IR Diagnostics for use at point-of-care in sub-Saharan Africa. Dr Moetlhoa supervises postgradute students and contributes to research capacity-building initiatives of the research group. Dr Siphesihle Robin Nxele
Email address: [email protected] Siphesihle Robin Nxele is a Postdoctoral fellow who is about to complete her first year entering the second. Her post-doctoral research focuses on implementing. A non-invasive saliva self-sampling tool for the diagnosis of respiratory pathogens at the point of care. This work will be done in collaboration with a research group at the University of Washington and other specialists in the field of diagnostics. She holds a joint PhD in Chemistry awarded by Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa, and Chimie Paristech in Paris, France. Her passion and desire to make medical care accessible to all communities led her to her most recent research: fabricating early diagnostic electrochemical sensors for prostate cancer. Dr Thobeka Dlangalala

Thobeka Dlangalala is a multifaceted TB researcher with a background in Microbiology. She recently completed her PhD in Public Health with the REASSURED research group. As she embarks on post-doctoral research, she will explore the integration of nuclear medicine in TB diagnosis—an exciting endeavor that combines her interests in Public health and laboratory sciences. Beyond academia, Thobeka is passionate about TB advocacy work, an interest sparked by her interactions with TB patients during her doctoral studies.
