Research focus Pan African Cancer Research
Background

The mission of PACRI is to be the home for basic, clinical, population-based cancer research and patient care in Africa. PACRI researchers and physicians are dedicated to understanding the biology of cancer, and applying that knowledge to design cancer therapies and prevention strategies that are mainly relevant and beneficial to the populations of Africa. Internationally recognized collaborators, researchers and clinicians of PACRI will bring together the best approaches for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of many types of cancers to reduce the incidence and progression of cancer while contributing to the creation of a personalized treatment plan for Africa. Patients will benefit from clinical trials, many of them featuring therapeutic regimens, as well as studies to help understand the incidence and progression of cancers. PACRI will develop health promotional and educational resources to help improve health literacy and education in traditionally underserved communities in Africa.
