On Saturday, 30 July 2016, EBIT Faculty House had the opportunity to interact with the community. We visited the Xola Disability Centre as well as the Yabana Orphanage Home.

Xola Disability Centre

EBIT Faculty House in collaboration with the Built Environment Society at Tuks, one of our sub houses, visited the Xola Disability Centre to donate wheelchairs. The disability centre is located in Soshanguve, Pretoria. A total of three wheelchairs were donated

Yabana Orphanage Home

We visited Yabana Orphange Home which is located in Winterveldt, north-west of Pretoria. We assisted the home by painting their fence and scraping a wall to allow for the application of a new backwash.

After the hard work, we toured the home to see how the children were cared for. The caretakers also gave us a mini-workshop in which we were taught how to raise kids succesfully, and how to make an orphanage a home for children without parents or guardians.

With the formalities out of the way, we had a bonding session with the children. We played a variety of games with them, which the children enjoyed tremendously.
