Una conference for the promotion of effective early childhood programmes

Posted on June 03, 2011

Una is a global, inter-disciplinary network of researchers and practitioners working to reduce racial and ethnic divisions and building socially inclusive communities through the promotion of effective early childhood programmes. The work done by these researchers is to share a commitment to ensuring that all of the work done is children’s rights-based, outcomes-focused and evidence-informed.

There are six Learning Groups which form the UNA initiative. The Learning Groups represent a global network of 73 leading experts in research and practice from over 30 different countries. Learning Groups are working to share and disseminate existing knowledge and practice in relation to a particular area of research, policy and/or practice.

Dr Phatudi’s Learning Group is responsible for the research on Children’s Rights: Programmes and Policies. The aim of this Learning Group is to share knowledge and expertise in relation to existing theories and practice regarding children's rights and to consider how these might best underpin approaches to the design, delivery and evaluation of diversity programmes in early childhood.

The chair of the group is Prof Beth Swadener of Arizona State University and the co-chair is Ms Mercy Musomi of Girl Child Network in Kenya
