On Saturday, 24 February, our Commercii first-year basketball team proudly represented the EMS Faculty at the annual Tuks First Year Basketball Tournament, hosted by Tuks Basketball. As the only faculty house in the tournament — up against strong teams from residences and day houses — our boys knew they had a challenge ahead. And they rose to the occasion.

The team made a powerful statement in their opening match, delivering a dominant 10-0 victory. It was a thrilling start that showcased the team’s natural chemistry, hustle, and determination.

The following matches proved more competitive. Our boys fought hard but narrowly lost the second and third games with scores of 8-6 and 10-5, respectively. Despite the setbacks, they displayed tremendous resilience and teamwork, keeping their heads high and their spirits even higher.

While we exited during the group stages, the heart and grit shown by our players left a lasting impression. Considering the limited practice time before the tournament, the performance was a true testament to their raw talent, passion, and potential. We are incredibly proud of our Commercii first years for stepping up and giving it their all. This tournament was just the beginning, and we’re excited to see how this team grows throughout the year.
