About us

We are a Research Interest Group (RIG), an informally organised group of academics and researchers at the University of Pretoria (UP) with a common interest in the dynamic and transdisciplinary field of cochlear implants.

The UP Cochlear Implant RIG welcomes all researchers who are affiliated with the University of Pretoria that are active in any aspect of cochlear implant research. Have a look at the Researchers page to see what the different members associated with the UP Cochlear Implant RIG are doing. If you are actively pursuing research in cochlear implants and are affiliated with UP, you are welcome to join our RIG.

The current active members of the UP Cochlear Implant RIG represent Bioengineering, Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, as well as Anatomy within UP. We hope this list will grow as the RIG grows. Members of the RIG have momentum in their own lines of cochlear implant research, and the intention is not that the RIG should guide this. Rather, the RIG is intended to promote collaboration, to provide networking opportunities, and to be a forum for cochlear implant researchers across disciplines and faculties within UP.

As a networking opportunity, the RIG plans to organise an annual one-day cross-discipline symposium where all researchers associated with the RIG will be invited to showcase their research. Other than this formal networking opportunity, please feel free to follow the links to each researcher’s home entity’s website, and to interact with any of the researchers directly.
