Virtual Reality Centre

The Virtual Reality Centre's cutting-edge technology allows engineers, planners, and other stakeholders to visualise and explore multiple data sets and scenarios, ultimately guiding their decision-making process. This immersive experience promotes not only operational productivity and effectiveness but also encourages interdisciplinary collaboration by providing a shared, realistic visual format.

The Centre offers unique learning opportunities, enabling faculties to differentiate and stay competitive in terms of cost and efficiency. Digital Capability Lab

The Digital Capability Laboratory capacitates students with the requisite skill set that will enable them to thrive and adapt to the constantly evolving world of work. The lab employs digital collaborative learning as part of UP’s efforts to develop future-fit programmes. The lab boasts cutting-edge technologies, which offer a creative and unique space for hands-on digital capability building. The facility is also a test bed for piloting and scaling innovative solutions. Students will have access to technologies used in various industries that will enable them to find innovative solutions to industry-specific problems.

User Experience (UX) Lab

The User Experience (UX) Lab at the University of Pretoria Informatics Department contributes significantly to the Centre for the Future of Work's collaborative efforts by providing students with an innovative environment to explore and engage with the latest trends in technology design. Specialising in mobile development, human-computer interaction (HCI), and eye-tracking technology for usability and user experience evaluation, the lab fosters cross-disciplinary learning and collaboration.

The UX Lab team boasts a diverse array of expertise, encompassing web development, interaction design, systems design, cognitive psychology, and eLearning. This unique combination of practical and theoretical knowledge enables the lab to execute design and evaluation projects effectively, as well as offer training programs tailored to a wide audience. By facilitating the exchange of ideas and fostering creative problem-solving, the UX Lab promotes collaboration within the Centre for the Future of Work and nurtures the development of forward-thinking solutions for tomorrow's work environment.
