SIMBINE SHINING AT DIAMOND LEAGUE

TuksAthletics national 100m champion, Akani Simbine, became the fastest ever South African at sea level when he finished sixth in a time of 10.08 seconds at the Rome Diamond league Meeting on Thursday, 4 June.

Running in the inside lane, it was Akani’s  1st ever appearance in a Diamond League Meeting.With this time, he also set a new season best as well as the fastest ever time by a South African athlete outside the borders of South Africa.

Akani has been selected for the USSA National team to participate in the FISU Games taking place during July in Gwangju, Korea and after this performance, he will be a favourite to win a gold medal in this event.
