Caster to hell and back

“The opportunity to enjoy my last year as junior and first year reign as World Champion have all been taken from me. I should have been happy and enjoying life since my return from Berlin (where she won gold and the World Championships in 2009) but I was miserable instead. It was a very trying time. I was frustrated, angry, stubborn and at times even felt useless because there was, until quite recently, no clear indication that I would ever run again,” she said.

Even so, Caster has no axes to grind.

“I bear no grudges. I am glad to be back and humbled by the way my coach, family and friends stood by me unconditionally. It is in times like these when you truly get to know your real friends.”

As to her relationship with the media, Caster commented: “They have a job to do and I understand that all their reporting cannot be positive or of good news nature. However, in too many instances they really do not care at all about how many people get hurt as long as they get the story. As for now the media is last on my list of priorities. They have to their job, and I have to get ready for my return to the track.”
