Not only did Oscar win 2 Gold medals in the 4 x 100 Relay, where he ran the anchor leg, and in the 400m, but also break the World record in the T43 class in the 200m during the heats and also contributed to the 4 x 100m Relay World record, the 1st time ever a disabled team could run faster than 42 sec in this event. Oscar also broke the Paralympic Record in the 400m on his way to the Gold and is he still the only man ever to run faster than 50 sec in the 1 lap event. In the 200m, he finished 2nd in the final to win a well earned Silver medal.
After the medal ceremony of the 400m, which also was the last ceremony held in the athletics stadium at the Paralympics, Oscar said he was glad that this long season is now finally something of the past and is looking forward to a well-deserved break from athletics. Oscar, earlier, became the 1st disabled athlete to participate in the Olympic games when he ran the 400m and 4 x 400 relay. In the 400m he advanced to the semi-final and in the 4 x 400m, he and his fellow team members advanced to the final of this event and finished a well deserving 7th place.
It was clear that he was one of the crowd favorites as he got a thunderous applaus every time he was introduced to the crowd in the athletics stadium which was reserved mainly for the British competitors.
We wish Oscar a well-deserved rest and good luck in his preparations for an even better 2013 season.
