Team Tuks does well at USSA Cross Country

Posted on October 01, 2012

The weather was not favourable and athletes had to negotiate cold, windy and rainy conditions to enable them perform at their best.
The standout performance of the Championships was undoubtedly that of Myrette Filmalter from Tuks when she won the 8km ladies section in an emphatic fashion. She beat the 2nd placed runner by more than a minute which is very uncommon in Cross Country. Her performance also contributed to Team Tuks in winning the silver medal in the 8km team competition for women. In the 4km women race, Anuscha Nice earned a well deserved 2nd place and also was instrumental in contributing to the winning the silver in the team competition over the same distance. The ladies also combined in the 3 x 2km road relay race to earn a well deserved silver medal in this tough competition. Our B Team ended in the 5th place and our C Team finished 10th out of the 13 participating institutions in this event.
Men from team Tuks experienced a dry spell over the past years at the USSA Cross Country Championships but this was broken when the team members in the 4km race run a perfect team race, beating many of the other favourites, to earn a well deserved bronze medal in this event.
