The event incorporated the 30 km Open Championships as well as the 10 km Youth and Junior Race Walking Championships.
Our Tuks Olympian walker, Marc Mundell, competed in the 30 km race walk and Wayne Snyman in the 20 km race walk. Both walkers were not only crowned as winners of their respective events, but also set new course records. Snyman walked an International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) B standard qualifier for the IAAF World Track and Field Championships that will be held in Moscow later this year. Snyman will compete overseas in Dublin and Spain to attempt an A-qualification. Mundell walked the second fastest time ever in South Africa in the 30 km race walk, after unsuccessfully attempting to break the time set by Chris Britz many years ago.
TuksAthletics wishes our walkers all the best with the rest of the season!
