Two of our athletes, Mrs Carien Visser and Dr Dirk Lighthelm, managed to get silver medals. Visser finished the race in seven hours, 27 minutes and 23 seconds and Lighthelm in seven hours, 16 minutes and six seconds. Prof Gloudien Spies (Chairperson, Tuks Road Runners Club) and Mrs Carien Visser were also category winners in their respective age groups.  The Tuks Ladies Veterans Club also took second place in their category.  Three Tuks athletes, namely Ms Martemie le Roux, Dr Llewellyn Curlewis and Mr Johan Labuschagne, received Bill Rowen medals for completing the Comrades in less than 9 hours. The Tuks athletes took 26 bronze medals (less than 11 hours) and 15 athletes got Vic Clapham medals (less than 12 hours). Congratulations to all Tuks runners who completed this year’s Comrades and to the support team, including Gary and Brett of the hpc, who supported the runners at the halfway mark, as well as the physios manning the tent.
