Tuks athlete Maryke Oberholzer fetched South Africa’s first athletics medal at the 2013 World Student Games by winning a bronze medal in the women’s discus final. Her distance was 54.09 m. The discus competition was won by Vera Ganeeva (61.26 m) with Elena Panova (56.86 m) in second place, both athletes from Russia.
