Posted on April 07, 2014

Sub-Youth, Youth, Junior and U/23 athletes from all over South Africa participated at this event that was held at the coast for the 1st time in more than 15 years.

The Championships was held over 3 days and at the conclusion of the last event, TuksAthletes won 26 gold, 21 silver and 7 bronze medals - an awesome total of 54 medals!  Akani Simbine was one of the top performers when he outran the field to win the 100m for men u/23 warning the senior athletes in this event that will be participating at the ASA Senior Championships at the ABSA Tuks Stadium.

One of the highlight was when Duwayne Boer won the Long Jump for junior men when he won this event with a distance of 7.89m. This distance not only places him in the nr. 1 spot currently in the world but also as 4th best performance ever by a South African athlete in this age group in this event. With this performance he also qualified for the IAAF Junior Championships taking place in Eugene, Oregon, USA in July.

Congratulations, not only to all TuksAthletes that won medals but also to those who bettered their personal bests during the Championships.
