Prof Barker’s second PhD student Anthony Ralwala from Kenya graduated with his thesis titled: “Interpretation of spatial organisation and meaning in Kenyan Luo architecture.”

Prof Arthur Barker was one of 4 judges (alongside Magda Cloete from UKZN Dept of Architecture, Tina Gallagher from Gallagher Lourens Architects in Cape Town and Nabeel Essa from Office 24-7 in Johannesburg) at the annual Carl and Emily Fuchs Foundation competition for undergraduate architectural students held in August at the Department of Architecture, University of the Free State. The three joint winners were from Wits, Bloemfontein and UCT.
He is also the guest editor for the upcoming issue of Walls and Roofs magazine.
