Bio

Nonku is an experienced practitioner and academic employed as lecturer and coordinator of final year studies in the Interior Architecture programme and Masters supervisor. She has taught design, design theory, and material studies. Her practice-based experience includes roles as architect, interior architect as well as in-house image architect for a service brand. Her PhD registered at Hasselt University in Belgium investigates metadesign as an approach to circular economy retail design developing a design process across physical a digital realms.

Nonku is a member of the University of Pretoria’s Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology (EBIT) faculty’s Transformation Committee.  She is a registered Green Star Accredited professional. In 2018 ahead of joining academia full time, she was invited to present at the Green Building Convention, The value of green fit-outs, balancing corporate expectation with user experience for optimal performance. She has examined at a number of local and international institutions.
