In a guest lecture with students, Extraordinary Professor in the Department of Animal Science, Prof. Lindiwe Sibanda, wowed students with her honesty and perspective.

The BSc (Agric.) Animal Science degree is a four year degree and in the second year, students are introduced to Animal Science specific modules such as Animal Anatomy and Physiology. 

Prof. Sibanda began her lecture by asking students what they expect from the 50 minute session - answers varied from 'I would like to learn more about smallholder farming and this industry,' to 'I am not sure about how this degree will provide a successful career for me.' Prof. Sibanda exceeded expectations with her frank perspective as she narrated her journey from growing up in sub-Saharan Africa to attending overseas universities and heading some of the world's most impactful agricultural organisations. Some students said that the only thing they disliked about her lecture was that it ended too soon!
