Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals

9 November 2023

Last week, the University of Pretoria, Policy Research Support, GIZ, African Monitor and University of Stellenbosch held a two-day meeting to bring project partners together to review progress made since the last meeting held in March. This was also done with the purpose of introducing new partners (Stellenbosch) to find out what synergies and collaborations could be pursued to further the overall aim of the SDGI. The SDGI works towards the increased use of evidence-based policy making through collaborating with The Presidency's Policy and Research Services.

Each of the partners explained what they had been working on, how they see themselves fitting into the overall project and their contributions to the project. The SA SDG PSI (South African Sustainable Development Goals Policy and Support Initiative) have been involved in a number of projects and there is a wish amongst all partners to strengthen the existing partnerships and build strong relationships with the new partner.

After two days the founding partners agreed to explore ways to work with the new partners and for continued engagement to improve collaboration. Further projects within the SA SDG PSI will be forthcoming, so the awareness of the SDGI will be raised. The PSI Secretariat, in particular, will work to improve relationship with the 26 public universities
