Meet The Team

Professor Flavia Senkubuge is well-established within public and global health. She is the Acting Vice-Principal Student Life and Deputy Dean Stakeholders Relations at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Pretoria, South Africa. Prof. Senkubuge is a physician, professor of public health and medicine and a past president of the College of Medicine in South Africa, the first Black woman to hold the position. She graduated with a PhD in public health, an MMed in public health medicine and an MBChB from UP. Additionally, she has a Fellowship of the College of Public Health Medicine of the Colleges of Medicine South Africa and an MBA from the Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University in the UK. She is the current chair of the WHO/Afro region African Advisory Council on Research and Development (AACHRD), president of Women in Global Health (WGH) South Africa. In 2022, she was recognised by Harvard Public Health as one of the 25 standout voices in African Public Health.

Professor Derick de Jongh is a professor and founding Director of ALLI. He holds aBCom, BCom (Hons), MCom (all cum laude) as well as a PhD. His expansive careerin cludes presentations at international symposia on responsible leadership, corporate citizenship and corporate responsibility. He is a former Visiting Professor at the Zeppelin University Leadership Excellence Institute, Rowe School of Business, and at the Asia Pacific Centre for Sustainable Enterprise, Griffith University, where he serves as Adjunct Professor.

Dr Moeketsi Modisenyane is a health systems and public health policymaker and researcher with a strong interest in global health issues; particularly global health diplomacy; migration, health and development; health systems, and health governance.He holds the position of Director: Africa and Middle East Relations at the National Department of Health, South Africa, where he is involved in designing, coordinating andimplementing South Africa’s Global Health initiatives with other bilateral and international organizations. He serves on various national committees such as the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Intellectual Property; the Inter-Agency Clearing Forum (IACF) and Technical Task Team on Migration. He holds a PhD (public health) from the University of Pretoria.

Dr Camille Castelyn is Project Manager at the ALLP-Health. She holds has a PhD, CPA in Biotehics, PGDip, Masters in Divinity, and Bachelor's in Theology. Combining her interdisciplinary background and thought, she holistically approaches and manages the innovations at ALLP-Health.

Ben van der Merwe is a Senior Researcher at the ALLI. He holds a BA inPhilosophy, Political and Economic Sciences, Honours in Philosophy and an MPhil inBusiness and Professional Ethics. His core research is in the domain of critical management studies, critical leadership studies, sustainable development, and alternative economic systems.

Ziyanda Ngcobo is a Public Health Master’s student at the University of Pretoria, focusing on Women’s Burden of Diseases as her research topic. She is a Project Manager at Wits Health Consortium by profession. She has experience within the public health sector managing clinical projects such as Oncology, Radiology, Nephrology services in partnership with the department of health. Ziyanda completed her PG.Dip in Public Health at the University of Pretoria.
