This was one of the key conclusions of an exploratory meeting between representatives from the African Union’s New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Albert Luthuli Centre for Responsible Leadership (ALCRL) at UP. The meeting was hosted by the ALCRL.
It was found that both UP’s Strategic Plan for 2025 and the African Union’s Agenda 2063 emphasise the generation of African knowledge and skills that are authentic, relevant and that can lead to developmental results. This lays the foundation for forging partnerships that can truly contribute to the continent’s transformation.
AU-NEPAD and UNDP further recommended that UP should become a founding partner of a continental African Union Transformative Leadership Programme, as an initial expression of the emerging partnership between the institutions.
