The United Nations Academic Impact Hub SDG2, UP, and the Malabo Montpellier Panel (MaMo Panel) will convene a food system dialogue to mark this year's World Food Day on 18 October, 2021.
Celebrating World Food Day post the UN Food Systems Summit
Exactly two years ago, on the occasion of the 2019 World Food Day, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres called for a United Nations Food Systems Summit (UN FSS) to be held in 2021. The Summit’s aim was to launch bold new actions to deliver progress on all 17 SDGs, each of which relies to some degree on healthier, more sustainable and equitable food systems.
Following the UNFSS that was held on the 23 & 24 September 2021, the Malabo Montpellier Panel and the University of Pretoria, as host of the United Nations Academic Impact Hub for SDG 2 (University of Pretoria), will host a discussion on “What’s next for food systems?”.
The panel discussion will focus on what actions should be taken to ensure food system transformation following Summit. Our panellists will give us an overview of what people outside of government can do to transform food systems from different perspectives.
Facilitator: Prof Sheryl Hendriks (the University of Pretoria, UNAI Hub for SGD2 coordinator, member of the UNFSS Scientific Group and member of the Malabo Montpellier Panel)
