The Department of Political Sciences, University of Pretoria in collaboration with the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE IDEAS) and the Embassy of Lithuania, South Africa cordially invite you to a half day conference on:
Intersections of Oppression: Comparative Historical Analysis of Contemporary Challenges
The conference aims to provide a comprehensive examination of various forms of oppression, drawing upon historical contexts and contemporary challenges. The panel discussions will delve into the intersections and disparities between Apartheid South Africa, Soviet Union, and colonialism, shedding light on the diverse experiences of those affected. Additionally, the conference will explore Russia’s war in Ukraine, and interrogate whether it is possible to understand it as a historical offshoot of Russian colonialism in Ukraine. By analysing these interconnected themes, the conference seeks to deepen understanding and encourage dialogue on the intersections of oppression, liberation, and contemporary global dynamics.
