Prof. Christopher Isike, the Director of the African Centre for the Study of the United States at the University of Pretoria recommends that South Africa needs to be less emotive about the issue of its relations with Russia and put its realist economic interests above any considerations and without also jeopardizing its friendship ties with both the US and Russia. It can do this fine balancing act by purely following the dictates of non-alignment.
