POST EVENT: Policy Seminar to Review the 2022 US-Africa Leaders' Summit

Posted on April 03, 2023

The Policy Seminar to review the 2022 US-Africa Leaders’ Summit was organised to address some of the pressing questions that continue to linger after the Summit. The key objective was to unpack what the Summit meant or means for Africa in concrete and policy terms and produce a Policy Brief that will offer practical steps towards improving the position of Africa in its future relations with the US.
Some of the workshop's major submissions highlighted that African leaders failed to present a united and concrete demands during the summit. That signaled a missed opportunity. Therefore, there is a need for a group hegemonic leadership in Africa to drive Africa’s interest in their relations with the US. Other submissions and recommendations would be captured in the policy brief in view.
