The Director and Deputy Directors at TuksSport, together with Prof Antonie de Klerk and Prof Cheryl de la Rey, have spent extensive time in dialogue and strategic planning over the manner in which the Annual Colours and Awards Function is presented at TuksSport.

Owing to various factors, including but not limited to finances, it was decided to adjust the criteria for and operations in respect of the presentation of the event. The programme will focus on student athletes and repetitive awards will be eliminated.

While all athletes who have reached certain levels of achievement levels will still be celebrated, not all athletes will be invited to the function. Athletes will only receive colours for their first participation in an awards category. All athletes will, however, receive a letter of congratulations from the University of Pretoria and TuksSport.

The event will now be much smaller than in previous years, and it will be of the highest level of prestige and distinction. The University of Pretoria and TuksSport believe that this is the best way to preserve the high standards that we have come to value in the event.
